I’m not someone who likes to have his handlebars cluttered with electronic gadgets with distracting little screens, but I still kind of like to keep track of where I’ve been with a bike and occasionally like to take a look at an altitude profile of a GPS recorded ride in Google Earth. Having an old iPhone, I tried some of the GPS apps, but they (or my iPhone) were pretty lousy at accurately logging a ride. So about a year ago, I purchased an i-gotU GT-120 GPS logger and have been pretty happy with it until I left it in my jersey pocket and threw it into the laundry machine. Though pretty water resistant, it is by no means water-proof and didn’t survive being washed. So, I went back to Digitec the other day and placed an order for its bigger brother - the i-gotU GT-600. Why bigger? Well,
- more memory for way more track points
- motion detector to stop logging track points when not moving
- larger unit less likely to end in the laundry machine
- and because a 29er rider knows “bigger is better”
