Being the bike nut I am, the Syntace P6 seatpost with carbon weave just wasn’t the right post for a Niner Air 9 Carbon, so when the new P6 Full Carbon hit the shelves it was a no-brainer to get one. No-brainer like in “you gotta have no brain to replace a perfectly fine seatpost”. The new P6 HiFlex post has a black, carbon finish and is about 20 grams lighter than the old P6. At 205 grams for a 31.6x400 mm seatpost it’s no candidate for the weight-weenie book of records, but you don’t buy a Syntace post if weight is what you worry about. According to Syntace, the new HiFlex post is twice as flexible as the old P6. A flexible seatpost on a rigid Air 9 Carbon singlespeed equals an increase in comfort. That was the final argument I needed to pull out my credit card and order one. I haven’t ridden it yet, but based on its inner oval diameter that creates a thicker wall thickness front and back and a thinner on the sides, I don’t doubt those claims. I’ll let you know how it rides …
